Cryptocurrency are not a threat to central banks - IMF

Bitcoin and other crypto-currencies do not pose a threat to the world's central banks and currency currencies.

This was stated by the head of the International Monetary Fund Christine Lagarde, reports Interfax-Ukraine.

According to her, despite the fact that at present they are "too volatile, too risky, too energy intensive," this may change with time.

Lagarde noted that "many crypto-currencies are too opaque for regulators, some are exposed to hacker attacks. However, in her opinion, much of this is due to technical problems that can be solved over time."

"Some time ago some experts believed that personal computers would never be accepted or that the tablets would be used only as expensive coffee trays. Therefore, I think it is not too smart to reject virtual currencies, "she said.

Recall, previously, the " Ministry of Finance " reported that the head of the US bank JPMorgan James Daimon spoke out sharply against bitcoin, calling the crypto currency "fraud".
