What is Cardano?
Cardano is an open source blockchain technology project. Like similar projects, Cardano consists of a platform and a cryptocurrency. Cardano’s cryptocurrency, Ada (ADA), currently ranks no 9 on coinmarketcap.
Cardano is a decentralized public blockchain and cryptocurrency project and it’s fully open source. Cardano is developing a smart contract platform which seeks to deliver more advanced features than any protocol previously developed. It is the first blockchain platform to evolve out of a scientific philosophy and a research-first driven approach. The development team consists of a large global collective of expert engineers and researchers including Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson.
Hoskinson left the Ethereum project before the network launched and eventually went on to found IOHK. The project which began in 2015 was finally launched on September 29, 2017, after two years of development.
